Question: "Unable to locate printer" error on MacOS
Last Updated: Aug 30, 2022     Views: 98

If your print dialogue box says "Printing - Unable to locate printer "[printername]" there are a few things you can try:

  1. Ensure you have a network connection.
  2. Are you running the PawPrints client app? It must be open to authenticate.
  3. Delete the printer and reinstall PawPrints.

If these do not solve the error, follow these instructions to reset your MacOS printing system:

Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Printers & Scanners. Select a printer in the list, then right click and choose “Reset printing system.”

NOTE: This will delete all printers and scanners, but provides a clean slate to install PawPrints.
